When the snow covers this area it becomes a winter wonderland for cross country skiing, snowshoeing, ice fishing and snowmobiling enthusiasts. Midway between Trout Creek and Kootenai Falls is the Ross Creek Giant Cedars where you will find flat hiking trails through the cedars. Just a short drive will take you to the Old Jail Museum home to area historical artifacts, Heritage Museum with a miners cabin, cookhouse, other older buildings and a Shay locomotive, and Grave Creek Falls, the perfect picnic spot.
